Gibson
Gibson Style O Artist 1917
1917 Gibson Style O Artist, in superb vintage (or maybe antique at this point?) condition. One of the most beautiful guitars we've ever had in the shop, absolutely breath taking in the flesh - we've wanted to get one of these in for years. Completely crack free, break free and retaining all of its original hardware including the usually missing tortoise celluloid pickguard and tortoise shell topped tailpiece. A real masterpiece of the Loar-era, this was the top of the line guitar model for Gibson at this time, designed to harmonize with the company's mandolin orchestra instruments of the time. The back has a patch appears to have been an attempt at French Polishing, but blacklighting indicates no attempts to cover a crack. The chunky V-neck is a dream to play, sounds wonderful. The body is bound in ivoroid and has a beautifully ornate rosette. Pearl Fleur De Lis inlay on the headstock and pearl inlays. Truly a work of art in every way. Includes OHSC.
